A message from your principal

principal WHS

My name is Rhonda Hockenbury, and I am truly honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Winfield High School.

It is with great excitement and a deep sense of responsibility that I step into this role. I come to USD 465 with 27 years of experience in education—as a teacher, an instructional leader, and most recently as Superintendent of McLoud Public Schools in Oklahoma. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about fostering student growth, building strong school communities, and creating environments where everyone feels valued and supported.

I believe that a successful school is built on strong relationships, open communication, and shared purpose. My priority will be to listen, learn, and collaborate—with students, families, and staff—to continue building on the school's strengths and to support every learner in achieving their full potential.

Over the coming weeks, I look forward to getting to know our school community. I invite you to stop by, say hello, and share your hopes and ideas for the year ahead. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or just to introduce yourself.

Thank you for the warm welcome I’ve already received. I am excited for the journey ahead and honored to be part of the Winfield tradition of excellence.
